Mounting Information
Power On/Off Clutches, Brakes and
Electromagnets
Clutch - Field Mounting - F.M.
• To be used in conjunction with downloadable datasheet.
1.) Mount field square to shaft using ØA,
or ØE4, to ensure concentricity - 0.05mm for sizes up to 11,
and 0.10mm for larger sizes.
2.) For split shaft applications ensure input shaft is within 0.05
T.I.R. with output shaft or sizes up to 11, and 0.08mm for larger
sizes.
3.) Rotor must be axially secured using circlip, or similar device
observing dimension r to give correct relation to field.
4.) Set air-gap ‘g’.
5.) Counterbore customer furnished pulley to clear rivet heads for
armature type C.L.
Clutch - Field Mounting - S.B.
• To be used in conjunction with downloadable datasheet.
1.) Field and rotor assembly is pre-aligned,
but on split shaft applications ensure concentricity between input
and output shafts is within 0.05mm.
2.) The air-gap ‘g’ can be set using spacers and shims
which can be removed for wear adjustment after long periods of operation.
When using armature type C.E. axial clamping cannot be used as
0.025mm end float is essential. A clamping ring or circlip must be
used.
3.) Counterbore customer furnished pulley or gear to clear rivet
heads for armature type C.L.
4.) Do not clamp the torque arm.
Clutch - Field Mounting - B.B.
• To be used in conjunction with downloadable datasheet.
1.) Field and rotor assembly is pre-aligned,
but on split shaft applications ensure input shaft is within 0.05mm
concentric with output shaft for sizes up to 11 and 0.08mm for larger
sizes.
2.) The air-gap ‘g’ can be set using spacers and shims
which can be removed for wear adjustment after long periods of operation.
3.) When using armature type C.L. customer furnished pulley or gear
counterbored to clear rivet heads.
4.) Do not clamp the torque arm.
Brake - Field Mounting - F.M.
• To be used in conjunction with downloadable datasheet.
1.) Mount as for F.M. clutch.
2.) Set air-gap ‘g’ using clamping screw for armature
type C.C. Circlip or spacer with shims for adjustment must be used
for axial location on armature type C.R.
General Notes
We recommend the use of Thread Locking Adhesive and shakeproof washers on all screws.
Always re-new armature and friction face together if required.
When ordering please use the correct code to ensure quick and accurate
delivery.
The standard voltages are 24 and 98V d.c. but specials can be supplied. We can provide the larger sizes of our products with a built-in rectifier for a.c. supplies but for quick switch-off-times we recommend using an external rectifier and switching the d.c. supply.
